Overview
This unit exposes you to a variety of industry standard games engine environments, game genres and development techniques. You will develop an appreciation and basic working knowledge of a number of different platforms used in contemporary games development. The unit aims to provide you with a practical insight into contemporary, industry standard, games development process and games engines. The studio environment will facilitate considerable peer interaction, in particular through the analysis of game genres and the development of game prototypes.
The unit provides knowledge and skills, which you can apply within your game development projects in the third year studio project/s (FIT3039/FIT3040) and across all subsequent units.

You will be required to deliver a game prototype using either the Unity or Unreal Game Engines. All software is available at no cost to you through your respective websites. The software will be available to students in FIT laboratories, however having access to this software outside of class time is recommended for undertaking study and working on assignments.
