Working with birthing women
MID2010
Synopsis
In this unit, you will further develop your midwifery knowledge and skills related to working with women throughout normal and complex labour and birth, as well as the postnatal assessment and care of the woman and newborn.
You will be able to recognise variations from normal, and describe and practise the appropriate interventions for common emergency situations during labour/birth and the early postnatal period. Additionally, you will explore the impact of contemporary birthing options and practices for women, including culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
Sourced from the Monash Handbook 2026.
