Synopsis
In this unit you will be introduced to aspects related to acute medical-surgical nursing. You will explore the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, pharmacology, nursing assessment and management of the acute care patient. Within the unit, you will learn about caring for a range of health conditions within multiple body systems and will apply this knowledge to the planning and delivery of person-centered care.
You will use a mix of new and previously developed nursing knowledge and skills to care for a range of patients within a simulated learning environment and on clinical placement. This knowledge and skills will enable you to practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, Code of Conduct for Nurses, and the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Code of Ethics for Nurses.
