Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
This unit will be taught over 12 weeks. Each week will have a two-hour lecture and a one-hour tutorial. Please take note that lectures will be supported by online material and some lectures will also be 100% online. You are advised to attend all lectures and tutorials. It is expected that you will be an active contributor in the tutorial discussions. You will receive relevant information on the assignments and examination in the lectures and tutorials. It is in your best interest to attend all tutorials and seek assistance from the lecturer if needed. The Moodle site on this unit will have lecture notes and other supporting learning materials that should be reviewed on a weekly basis. It is recommended that you download the lecture notes from the specific section of the Moodle site prior to attending each lecture. It is moreover expected of you to read the relevant chapters before the lecture for better understanding and participation in discussions.
