Overview

Psychosocial effects of work on individuals is explained from a preventive viewpoint. Mental illness & its effect on employment, alcohol and drug use, disability discrimination, equal employment opportunity legislation, workplace health promotion & shift work are examined.

Learning outcomes

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Identify, analyse and evaluate various issues that might arise for a worker in regards to the working environment, and devise appropriate management control strategies;

    Identify, analyse and communicate the underpinning principles of disability discrimination and equal employment legislation and practically apply them to workplace settings;

    Develop, implement, and evaluate a health promotion program;

  4. 4

    Implement evidence-based occupational drug and alcohol management;

  5. 5

    Reflect critically on theoretical models and concepts underpinning organisational psychology; and

  6. 6

    Develop insightful and persuasive recommendations to improve workplace culture and practice.
