Overview

In this unit you will have the opportunity to build fundamental skills in wound assessment, including the holistic assessment of individuals with wounds. This knowledge will enable you to successfully advocate for individuals living with wounds to further enhance their ongoing care. Learning opportunities will build your skills in wound documentation and ongoing communication with health professionals. The skills and knowledge developed in this unit underpins subsequent units in the wound care course.

    Critically reflect on cross-cultural awareness and ethical values in assessing patients with wounds.

    Create a wound assessment evaluation tool that demonstrates an understanding of wound aetiology and its application in your clinical practice.

    Recognise and apply professional communication strategies when advocating for patients who require multidisciplinary team management.
