Applied research skills in nutrition and dietetic practice

Synopsis

In this unit you will develop capabilities to undertake practice-informed research in the field of nutrition and dietetics. You will identify and investigate a contemporary nutrition and dietetic issue of public health or clinical significance. Through critical engagement with scientific literature, you will collect, analyse, and interpret research evidence to inform evidence-based practice. Your emphasis, in this unit, is placed on translating research findings into practical applications for diverse stakeholders, including health professionals, organisational leaders, communities, advocacy groups and policymakers.

Throughout the unit, you will demonstrate ethical and professional behaviours in research conduct, and apply both critical and creative thinking to evaluate complex challenges in nutrition and dietetics practice. By the end of the subject, you will be able to contribute meaningfully to research, practice, and policy in nutrition and dietetics, supporting improvements in individual and population health.
