Synopsis

In this unit, you will examine the current and evolving role of the paramedic and how paramedicine is practiced in Australia. You will focus on health and wellbeing preparedness to support career longevity, learning about resilience, self-care strategies, and the challenges of working in a highly dynamic environment.
You will explore professional standards and competencies and develop an understanding of professional behaviours, communication methods, and legal and ethical issues such as consent and negligence.
You will also complete the Allies in Indigenous Health module where you will learn about healthcare equity for Indigenous peoples, develop cultural safety, and critically reflect on their own worldview's impact on Indigenous peoples.
