Structure

Parts C. and D. Software engineering knowledge, application and professional practice108 credit points
You must complete the following software engineering units AND one unit at level 4 or level 5 from the software engineering technical electives list. NOTE: If you have been selected for the Faculty of Information Technology Industry-based Learning (IBL) placement program, please refer to the IBL information below. NOTE: If you completed MAT1830 or FIT2085 as a First Year technical elective, you must replace the core with another unit at the same level or higher from the software engineering technical electives list.

Industry-Based Learning (IBL) Placement Program

6 credit points
In Year 2, you may apply for selection into the Faculty of Information Technology's industry-based learning (IBL) placement program. If selected for the program, you enrol in FIT4042 in place of FIT4002 and the 6 credit points level 4 or 5 software engineering technical elective in Part C. FIT4042 is completed in Semester 2 of Year 3 in the standard progression map.

Studying E3010 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Computer Science

You replace FIT2085 with an additional approved elective from Part E. Software engineering technical electives list.

Studying E3011 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Information Technology

You replace FIT3171 with an additional level 3 or 4 approved elective from Part E. Software engineering technical electives.
Part E. Elective study - Specialisation36 credit points

Students studying Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) single degree

In single degree engineering, you must complete 36 credit points of elective study after Year 1. In Year 2, the 12 points of electives can be level 1, 2 or 3 units from engineering or other faculties. In Years 3 and 4, the 24 points of electives must be level 3, 4 or 5 units and from your engineering specialisation technical electives list. Electives must be completed at the required unit level to satisfy the course requirements.

Software engineering technical electives

24 credit points
When choosing your electives, it is important to select only from your specialisation technical electives list. This ensures that your elective studies align with and contribute to the knowledge and skills required within your chosen field of study.

Students studying a double degree

The 36 credit points of specialisation engineering technical electives normally required in the single degree have been credited towards the double degree structure and therefore not a requirement in the double degree courses.
