Overview
The Bachelor of Arts offers you 30+ areas of study to choose from, such as, bioethics, psychology, sociology, languages and communications, and provides you with an essential skill set, effective communication, interpersonal skills, empathy, critical thinking, cultural awareness and a global outlook.
The course is built around deeply enriching experiences, including local and international internships, professional engagements and entrepreneurial opportunities, and the choice of over fifty global immersion programs. The Bachelor of Arts has four Professional Futures domains which build skills and abilities that employers value and seek; Global Immersions, Intercultural expertise, Professional experience and Innovation capability.
The Bachelor of Global Studies aims to develop your leadership for social change by focusing on key capabilities: creativity, teamwork, intercultural collaboration, critical thinking, self-learning, and strong analytical and writing skills. You will cultivate a rich understanding of the interplay between local, regional, and global forces, equipping yourself with sharp analytical abilities and flexible, imaginative, and well-informed disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches. All core units will allow you to apply your learning in practical and professional contexts.
A key component of the course is a required period of study overseas, which you can complete intensively at a Monash international campus or at a prestigious partner university.
Global mobility is a compulsory component of the course. You can select from a wide range of physical and virtual mobility experiences. Students should refer to the faculty's study abroad webpage for more information including additional costs, as well as opportunities for funding.

Bachelor of Arts
The Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree you complete Part A and Part B.
Part A. Major studies
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.
Part B. Specified studies
This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. You will have the flexibility of learning about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major. You will also build skills and abilities that employers value and seek by completing units from the Professional Futures domains.
Bachelor of Global Studies
A2001 Bachelor of Global Studies course is a specialist course structured in five parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Core studies and Part B. Global mobility
You will compare and contrast a range of global challenges and solutions in different historical, linguistic, cultural, and geographical settings, focussing especially on developing an understanding of effective collaboration, communication and leadership across a range of contexts.
Part C. Language studies
The world is multilingual. Studying other languages will help you understand your own place in the global landscape as well as improving your resilience and capacity to embrace uncertainty and complexity. You may continue with a language you have studied previously, or experiment with beginner's level units in any of the eight Asian and European languages offered in the Faculty of Arts. Alternatively, explore units focusing on indigenous languages, literary cultures and global varieties of English.
Part D. Discipline elective studies
You will gain in-depth knowledge of a specific facet or facets of global studies through units grounded in a wide variety of humanities and social science disciplines. These units will provide you with the practical and theoretical skills needed to critically analyse, communicate and formulate innovative solutions to global challenges.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance in Year 12 or equivalent in English.
VET Diploma graduates
To be considered, applicants who have completed VCE or its equivalent and who are applying with a Humanities or Social Science based diploma will require an average result of at least 70%. Applicants who have not completed VCE but have completed a Humanities or Social Science based diploma will require an average result of at least 80% Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.
University
To be considered on the basis of tertiary study alone, applicants who have completed VCE or equivalent will be required to complete the equivalent of one year (48 points) of a recognised university degree and will require an average result of at least 70% (including failed units). For applicants who have completed less than the equivalent of one year of study, both the senior secondary qualification results and the units completed will be considered.
For applicants who do not have any formal qualifications completion of two single units at an Australian higher education or equivalent overseas educational institution satisfy minimum entry requirements, but four units are recommended to be competitive for selection, especially in Humanities or Social Science areas. Applicants should have at least a 70% average in their studies (including failed units). Studies must have been completed within five years of intended commencement.

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
