Businesses require people with a range of different skills and knowledge to keep them running profitably. This double degree in business and marketing gives you the opportunity to do more - you can study complementary areas to give you a genuine depth of study across business disciplines, build your portfolio of skills by studying different disciplines, and tailor your degree to increase your employability.
Your marketing studies will prepare you for a career as a marketing professional, while your business majors will give you additional skills to pursue expert roles in that industry, or give you the skills to work across industries.

You will complete your Bachelor of Marketing specialisation and one major in the Bachelor of Business. Where you have space in your degree you may complete a second major with no more than two units contributing towards both of your chosen majors or towards both a major and the specialisation.
You can enrich your degree to hone your academic and professional skills with a range of Flagship Rich Educational Experiences (FREE), including the Research, Experimentation and Discovery, Monash Innovation Guarantee Global Immersion Guarantee and Volunteering. These flagship rich educational experience units may be credited in place of your replacement units if approved by the faculty. There are both 6 and 12 credit point unit options available.
If you are enrolled in a double degree it may be possible to use 6 credit points from each degree to do the Global Immersion Guarantee (12 credit points). For information on eligible double degree combinations please see Global Immersion Guarantee.

Business
B2000 Bachelor of Business is a comprehensive course, structured in four parts. In the double degree you complete:
Part A. Core studies
These studies will provide you with a study of marketing and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.
Part B. Major studies
Your major studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of marketing to provide discipline-based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.
Part C. Capstone studies
This is designed to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the study of your major. Due to the double degree structure, the Marketing major is not available in this course.
Marketing
B2036 Bachelor of Marketing is a specialist course structured in four parts, in the double degree you complete:
Part A. Core studies
These studies will provide you with a study of marketing and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.
Part B. Discipline studies
These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of marketing to provide discipline-based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.
Part C. Capstone studies
The capstone unit will consolidate your knowledge and skills acquired through the study of your discipline and provide experience in multi-disciplinary processes and decision making.
Course progression map
The course progression map provides guidance on unit enrolment for each semester of study.
You must complete 192 credit points, of which 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Business (including all of the requirements in Part A, B and C for the single degree) and 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Marketing (including all the requirements in Part A, B and C for the single degree).
Where there is double up of units across the two single degrees, these units must be replaced by another unit. Up to six of these may be replaced by a unit from across the University, providing the prerequisites are met and there are no restrictions on admission to the units. You may also be able to use these replacement units to take a 12 or 24 credit point project, international experience or internship, or undertake a minor in a different discipline from your major.

VET Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma graduates:
Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Diploma of Business Part 2 average: 60%
Monash University Foundation Year average: 70%
Higher education studies:
Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. A minimum of two single units must be completed in order to meet minimum admission requirements.

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
