Enrolment rules

Students must have passed the prerequisite units: BMS2011, BMS2021, BMS2031, BMS2042, BMS2052 and BMS2062 with an average grade of at least 60 (Credit) across these units to enrol.

Must have completed BMS3031 prior to the start of the unit.

Overview

In this unit, you will have an opportunity to gain work experience in the context of a laboratory program. You will work in research teams, mentored by a career researcher, to develop and execute an experimental plan to address a research question. To support your work in the lab, you will be guided in the development of skills in experimental design, ethical conduct and specific techniques via a series of workshops. You will be required to keep appropriate experimental records and communicate regularly with your mentor and peers to coordinate and carry out a research project and report on your findings. Throughout the unit research careers in academic, research institutes and industry will be highlighted.
