Synopsis
Curriculum involves the integration of knowledge from the key areas of language leaning and teaching, such as linguistics, language development, pedagogy, assessment and materials development. Language curriculum design and innovation is fundamental to the work of all TESOL educators. This unit develops understandings of theoretical approaches to curriculum design and innovation processes in diverse contexts. It provides you with practical knowledge and skills in curriculum design processes including needs analysis, environmental analysis, goal setting, scoping and sequencing, implementation and change management, assessment and evaluation. You will engage with substantive research and case studies of language curriculum models and analyse and evaluate existing curricula in different English language teaching contexts. You will develop understanding of curriculum change processes and strategies for implementation, change management and curricula leadership.
