Synopsis
The overall aim of this unit is to introduce you to the range of activities associated with the role of management, specifically of the organisation, teams, individuals and self. In order to achieve this aim, the unit content will cover several key areas of management including current challenges facing managers in a turbulent and unpredictable external environment, the importance of teamwork, leadership, communication and effective decision making. Finally, the unit explores contemporary management issues, such as ethics, sustainability and the future of work. By undertaking this unit, you should expect to experience a variety of activities designed to challenge your thinking about contemporary management theory and practice. These activities will include interactive case studies and application of the theory to 'real' world examples through team presentations.
