Overview
This double degree in commerce and arts gives you the skills to commercialise artistic endeavours, or apply commercial knowledge across different industry sectors.
You have genuine diversity of choice, with more than 40 majors and minors on offer. And your options are only as limited as your imagination. Combine economics and politics or philosophy as a great launching pad for a political career; or marketing science and psychology to understand why people buy certain products; or group management studies and music to have the skills to manage a band or work for a record label.

You can enrich your degree to hone your academic and professional skills with a range of Flagship Rich Educational Experiences (FREE), including the Research, Experimentation and Discovery, Monash Innovation Guarantee, Global Immersion Guarantee and Volunteering. These flagship rich educational experience units may be credited in place of your specified commerce elective if approved by the faculty, or alternatively utilising your replacement units. There are both 6 and 12 credit point unit options available.
If you are enrolled in a double degree it may be possible to use 6 credit points from each degree to do the Global Immersion Guarantee (12 credit points). For information on eligible double degree combinations please see Global Immersion Guarantee.
Commerce component96 credit points
If you are completing the Accounting major as part of your double degree, please note ECX2953 is required for professional accreditation and can be completed in Part A instead of ECC1000, and you will not be required to complete ECC1100.
Arts component96 credit points
You must complete no more than 36 credit points of Level 1 Arts units and at least 36 credit points at Level 3 of which at least 24 credit points must be Arts units.

Commerce
B2001 Bachelor of Commerce is a comprehensive course, structured in four parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Core studies
This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of commerce and expose you to several commerce disciplines. This will contribute breadth to your knowledge of commerce and address the graduate course outcomes. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising your choice of major.
Part B. Major studies
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area. You will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of your major area of study.
Part C. Capstone studies
This is designed to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the study of your course.
Arts
A2000 Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Major studies
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.
Part B. Specified studies
This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. You will have the flexibility of learning about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major. You will also build skills and abilities that employers value and seek by completing units from the Professional Futures domains.

You will complete one major from Bachelor of Commerce and one major from Bachelor of Arts. Where you have space in your degree you may complete a second major with no more than two units contributing towards both of your chosen majors or towards both a major and the specialisation.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites.
VET Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma graduates:
Applicants will require a minimum 70% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Monash University Foundation Year average: 76.25%
Higher education studies:
Applicants will require a minimum 70% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. A minimum of two single units must be completed in order to meet minimum admission requirements.

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
