Overview

This double degree combination offers you genuine breadth of choice, with 39 majors and minors across the arts, humanities and social sciences available to complement your studies in marketing.

You'll develop marketing skills that can be used in the media industry, and you will also establish a strategic and critical understanding of written, visual and audio communication - and how to apply these skills. By studying complementary subjects, you'll also build on your entrepreneurial expertise and gain practical skills to prepare you for the workplace. With the majors on offer, not only will you have plenty of flexibility and choice, but also a world of opportunity ahead of you.

Marketing will provide you with the analytic, creative and strategic skills to be a specialist marketer. You will gain comprehensive marketing knowledge, and be able to use this to make marketing decisions that drive value in business.

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A and Part B, for the Bachelor of Arts.

You must complete no more than 36 credit points of level one Arts units and at least 36 credit points at level three of which at least 24 credit points must be Arts units.

Part A. Arts listed majors and extended major

48 credit points
You must complete one of the following majors with no more than 12 credit points at level one and at least 18 credit points at level three.

APAC - Psychology extended major

60 credit points
If you are completing the APAC Psychology extended major below you will be required to complete 60 credit points of Psychology units and 36 credit points of Arts units which must include a minor (24 credit points) and signature elements (12 credit points).

Part B. Arts specified study

48 credit points
You must complete an arts listed minor in an area of study different from your chosen arts major from Part A. You must also complete a further 24 credit points of arts electives which must include 12 credit points of signature element units.

Marketing

B2036 Bachelor of Marketing is a specialist course that develops through the themes of foundation business knowledge, specialist discipline knowledge and capstone experience.

Part A. Foundation business knowledge

This will provide you with a study of marketing and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.

Part B. Specialist discipline knowledge

These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of marketing to provide discipline based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.

Part C. Capstone experience

The capstone unit will consolidate your knowledge and skills acquired through the study of your discipline and provide experience in multi-disciplinary processes and decision making.

Arts

A2000 Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:

Part A. Arts listed major

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.

Part B. Arts specified study

This will expose you to several arts disciplines areas of study contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. It will also give you the opportunity to learn about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major and minor. 

Course requirements

You must complete 192 credit points, of which 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Marketing (including all the requirements in Part A, B and C for the single degree) and 96 credit points from the Bachelor of Arts (including all the requirements in Part A and B for the single degree).

Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Monash University Foundation Year average: 70%

Higher education studies:
Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. A minimum of two single units must be completed in order to meet minimum admission requirements.
