Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
M3008
Overview
In this course, you will develop the relevant knowledge, practical and analytical skills required for speech pathology practice, including extending your skills of communication, ethical and reflective practice, collaboration, research, and leadership. This bachelor (honours) program consists of twenty-eight units delivered over four years. Foundational knowledge and skills are introduced in year one, with the focus on integration of prior science knowledge and principles into the context of speech pathology in additional to the development of clinical skills. The multimodal teaching approaches will facilitate active learning and development, which include early workplace and interprofessional learning opportunities. Clinical placements occur in years three and four, with practice in a simulated setting prior to acute, subacute, community and private practice clinical placements. A learner-centred philosophy allows preferences to be pursued in an independent research project in the final year.
This course enables students to obtain an entry-level qualification at an undergraduate (Honours) level of study to practice as a Speech Pathologist, and be practice-ready graduates. The course includes clinical education that satisfies Speech Pathology Australia’s requirements for registration to practice as a Speech Pathologist.
