Microbiology and immunology

This unit introduces students to the fundamental principles of microbiology and immunology, with a particular focus on their relevance to pharmaceutical sciences. Students will engage with topics such as epidemiology, host-pathogen interactions, and strategies for controlling microbial growth and transmission with physical, chemical and pharmacological methods. The unit introduces specialised discipline-based laboratory techniques to develop practical skills, and foster critical thinking through the integration of microbiological and immunological concepts applied to real-world scenarios.
