Overview

Collaborative design studio 4 focuses on design for social innovation, integrating co-design and community-driven problem-solving principles. It offers opportunities for close collaboration with peers and project partners to address complex challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

You will enhance your expertise and understanding of collaborative design, both theoretically and practically. The unit emphasises establishing stakeholder connections and engaging in co-planning, co-development, co-creation, and co-evaluation processes. Networks take precedence over hierarchies, and experimentation is valued over perfection. Guest speakers will share insights and experiences, expanding your professional network and supporting your learning.

In this unit, you will have the opportunity to develop speculative propositions aimed at creating real-world change. These propositions will place a strong emphasis on collaboration and community engagement by actively involving stakeholders and communities in the design process. By doing so, you will significantly increase the likelihood of having your ideas adopted and implemented. Through this approach, you will explore and experiment with radical techniques to effectively address complex societal issues, ultimately striving to make a meaningful impact.
