Overview
Collaborative design studio 5 focuses on design for activism. This requires you to shift from a participant or observer to an active agent within your selected focus area. With the support of your peers and academic staff, you will apply the collaborative design mindsets, methods, and tools acquired in previous studios to your self-directed project. You will employ design research techniques to thoroughly understand the stakeholder's needs and to define your inquiry. Throughout the semester, you will produce generative tools and prototypes to evaluate concepts in preparation for the delivery of a refined design product, service, experience, or research methodology. The aim of the unit is to apply collaborative design processes in greater depth by utilising them within a real-world context that you are actively connected to.
Your project will employ design research techniques to understand the needs of stakeholders and generate prototypes to evaluate concepts. Through this process, you will deepen your understanding and application of collaborative design processes and deliver a solution that has a positive impact on stakeholders and the spaces they inhabit.
