OCC5070

Synopsis

In this unit you will refine knowledge and skills in professional self-management appropriate for practice as entry level occupational therapists. You will identify and document your learning needs for your final practice education placement and develop the ability to set objectives for personal practice development. Strategies for identifying and meeting your individual professional development needs, the legal and ethical requirements for your professional competency at graduate level, your role within the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (Ahpra) and the credentialing process will be identified. The unit will help you better understand recruitment and selection processes. You will conduct a literature review related to an occupational therapy practice area in collaboration with an industry mentor

Concurrently you will continue to work 2 days per week throughout the term (135 hours) in collaboration with a community-based agency to address a specific occupational need for an identified group, community or population. You will learn and apply project management skills on how to implement, evaluate and report on chosen quality improvement activities. During this time, you will consolidate skills in providing evidence to support the selected project deliverable/s and how to apply ethical principles to ensure safe practice when implementing deliverables that will contribute to service development.
