This double degree combination offers you genuine breadth of choice, with 39 majors and minors across the arts, humanities and social sciences available to complement your studies in business.

International business provides you with an interdisciplinary understanding of issues affecting contemporary international firms, their strategy, corporate policies and operations. International business develops your knowledge and skills for the international economic, financial, political, legal, managerial and strategic environment of business.

In choosing your units, you must ensure that you complete at least 24 credit points of units at level 3 offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Part C. Capstone, project, international or internship experience

24 credit points
i. One foreign language area of study (Chinese studies, French studies, German studies, Indonesian studies, Italian studies, Japanese studies, Korean studies, Spanish and Latin American studies); or ii. Study abroad, internship or exchange experience (from a specified list). Note: a combination of i. and ii. is allowed.

Course rules

96 credit points
You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A and Part B, for the Bachelor of Arts.

You must complete no more than 36 credit points of level one Arts units and at least 36 credit points at level three of which at least 24 credit points must be Arts units.

Part A. Arts listed majors and extended major

48 credit points
You must complete one of the following majors with no more than 12 credit points at level 1 and at least 18 credit points at level 3. It is recommended that you complete level 2 units in more than one area of arts to give options for finalising your choice of major at level 3.

APAC - Psychology extended major

60 credit points
If you are completing the APAC Psychology extended major below you will be required to complete 60 credit points of Psychology units and 36 credit points of Arts units which must include Arts electives (12 credit points) and Professional Futures domain units (24 credit points).

European languages extended major

72 credit points
You have the option of reaching proficient level in two European Languages by completing an extended major. You must begin at entry level 2 intermediate level in at least one of the two languages.

Part B. Arts specified study

48 credit points
You must complete 24 credit points of Arts elective units and 24 credit points of units from the Professional Futures domains.

International Business

B2005 Bachelor of International Business is a specialist course that develops through the themes of foundation business knowledge, specialist discipline knowledge and capstone experience.

Part A. Foundation business knowledge

This will provide you with a study of accounting, economics and econometrics disciplines and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.

Part B. Specialist discipline knowledge

These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of international business to provide discipline based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.

Part C. Capstone experience

The capstone unit will consolidate your knowledge and skills acquired through the study of international business and provide experience in multi-disciplinary processes and decision making.

Arts

A2000 Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:

Part A. Arts listed major

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.

Part B. Arts specified study

This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. You will have the flexibility of  learning about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major.  You will also build skills and abilities that employers value and seek by completing units from the Professional Futures domains.

Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Monash University Foundation Year average: 70%

Higher education studies:
Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. A minimum of two single units must be completed in order to meet minimum admission requirements.
