Communication design studio 3
CDS2001
Synopsis
Building on knowledge and skills developed in DGN1000 and CDS1002, you will advance your craft and technical skills in industry-specific and emerging tools and practices. You will be exposed to a broad range of creative communication processes across print, digital, and emerging media, and will learn to identify the appropriate context(s) in which they can be applied independently and together. Focusing on the principles that underpin effective communication, you will explore observation and investigation techniques to develop informed design solutions. Reflecting on the societal role of communication designers, you will analyse how visual culture intersects with contemporary issues, recognising your responsibilities within this influential space. This unit emphasises empathy and social awareness, encouraging you to design with a commitment to social good, understanding the power your work has to influence public thought and drive positive change. Finally, you will develop adaptable design processes by actively engaging in experimentation and critical inquiry, building a foundation for continued growth in the field.
