Overview
In this major you will examine the global impact of Asian countries, cultures and economies. This knowledge is of critical importance to all future professionals aiming to sharpen your Asia-literacy in what is now known as the Asian Century. The major combines an interdisciplinary approach with a rigorous research-led approach to enable you to examine a range of issues relating to the history, politics, society, economy and culture of Asian countries, their influence in the world, as well as the variety of expressions of individual experience. It focusses in particular on China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and South Asia. All units are taught and assessed in English, and the major and its units can be usefully combined with any of the Asian language majors.
