Overview
The focus of this course is the development of management capabilities in the context of dynamic organisational environments.
The course examines management practice in relation to the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), a United Nations-supported initiative that balances economic and sustainability goals. You will develop your capability as a future-ready manager aware of global impact and able to address complex and pressing global challenges.
Aimed at career professionals with an undergraduate degree and work experience, or students who hold a cognate undergraduate degree seeking to strengthen their future or current career progression and enhance their management knowledge and skills, the course is suitable for those who occupy or aspire to management positions in business, government, community, service and non-profit organisations. It's designed to provide you with a comprehensive, intellectually demanding and up-to-date understanding of management/human resource management theory and practice.

or units from across the University, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions;
- Units not already completed in Part B above, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites;
- Units from the Supply Chain Management specialisation in the Master of Business (B6005) if you wish to pursue studies in that area.
The handbook's description of this structure
The Master of Management is structured in three parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Discipline studies and Part C. Elective studies
Part A. Core studies
These units will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of core management principles, contemporary practice and leadership and their impact on multi-discipline decision-making in organisations. These units will develop your capacity as an innovative future-ready professional who is able to apply specialist knowledge to complex management issues.
Part B. Discipline studies
These units develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who can apply advanced management knowledge to analyse complex organisational issues. You will build the skills to evaluate theories, apply evidence-based practices, and design innovative solutions that enhance leadership, strategy, and sustainable performance in diverse organisational contexts. Selected units within this part are accredited by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI).
Part C. Elective studies
These units will enable you to further develop and consolidate your knowledge of your degree. Electives may be taken from study tours, consulting projects or industry placements. Alternatively you can select units from across the University in which you are eligible to enrol.
Master's entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- Students admitted at entry level 1 complete 72 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C.
- Students admitted at entry level 2 complete 48 credit points, comprising Part A and Part B.
Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete the higher credit-point option.

You must complete 24 credit points of elective study. Electives can be chosen from;
- Either Level 4 or Level 5 units from the Faculty of Business and Economics (which may include study tours, consulting projects or industry placements), or units from across the University, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions.
- Units not already completed in Part B above, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites.
- Units from the Supply Chain Management specialisation in the Master of Business (B6005) if you wish to pursue studies in that area.
