Synopsis
This unit introduces you to the practice of nutrition and dietetics. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of the dietitian in utilising nutrition in the prevention and management of disease across the continuum of care and a range of communication strategies. The unit will also provide significant opportunities for you to investigate and develop personal and professional identities and will extend your ability to reflect on skills required for professional practice. An introductory placement in a health care setting will allow you to develop understanding of the roles of the dietitian within the healthcare system, practise core dietetic skills and work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
