Double degree courses include the features of the component degree courses, except that electives may be reduced.

Commerce

B2001 Bachelor of Commerce is a comprehensive course, structured in four parts. In this double degree course you complete:

Part A. Core studies 

This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of commerce and expose you to several commerce disciplines. This will contribute breadth to your knowledge of commerce and address the graduate course outcomes. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising your choice of major.

Part B. Major studies

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area. You will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of your major area of study.

Part C. Capstone studies

This is designed to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the study of your course.

Music

A2003 Bachelor of Music is a specialist course that develops through four parts. In this double degree course you complete:

Part A. Specialist studies

This sequence of units will provide you with specialist skills to undertake a final examination either through performance with your chief instrument or voice, or through a folio of composition and music technology media or written work. Performance and other applied electives are also available.

Part B. Music theory and ear training

These units will integrate the development of aural skills with the theoretical understanding of music through listening, analysis, performance, notation and composition.

Part C. Context studies

These studies will expose you to the study of music and music making in various cultural, historical, social and professional settings through introductory units and a capstone experience.

Course progression map

The course progression map provides guidance on unit enrolment for each semester of study.

You must complete 192 credit points, of which 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Commerce (including all the requirements in Parts A, B and C for the single degree) and 96 credit points from the Bachelor of Music (including all of the requirements in Parts A, B and C for the single degree).

In this double degree you will complete one major in the Bachelor of Commerce (B2001) and your specialisation in the Bachelor of Music (A2003). Where you have space in your degree you may complete an additional major. Some majors, minors and specialisations include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between:

• two majors; or

• a major and a minor; or

• a specialisation and a major or minor.

Note: Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors.

Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise specified.

Commence component (96 credit points)

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Parts A, Part B and Part C, for the Bachelor of Commerce.

Note: If you are completing the Accounting major as part of this double degree, ECX2953 is required for professional accreditation. You can complete ECX2953 in Part A instead of ECC1000, and you will not be required to complete ECC1100.

Music component (96 credit points)

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Parts A, Part B, and Part C, for the Bachelor of Music.

You must complete at least 24 credit points of music units at level 3.
