Marketing is the process of creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for customers. This course is designed for those whose passion is to think and act as professional marketers and possess the know-how for making successful marketing decisions. Marketing studies are combined with a general business education to ensure that you have a broad perspective of business from which to enter and progress your marketing career. You will be able to use your extensive marketing knowledge and skills - analytic, creative, and strategic - to drive value in the business environment.

The handbook's description of this structure
This is a specialist course, structured in four parts:
Part A. Core studies
This will provide you with a study of marketing and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.
Part B. Discipline studies
These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of marketing to provide discipline-based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.
Part C. Capstone studies
The capstone unit will consolidate your knowledge and skills acquired through the study of your discipline and provide experience in multi-disciplinary processes and decision making.
Part D. Elective studies
These are electives which will enable you to further your knowledge of marketing, or business more broadly, or to select units from across the University in which you are eligible to enrol.
Course progression map
The course progression map provides guidance on unit enrolment for each semester of study.
You must complete units as specified in Parts A, B, C and D (144 credit points): including 96 credit points of study in Parts A, B and C, and 48 credit points of electives in Part D.
In choosing your units, you must ensure that you complete no more than 60 credit points at unit Level 1 and at least 36 credit points at unit Level 3, including 24 credit points at unit Level 3 offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics.

You must complete the following units:

Part B. Discipline studies (66 credit points)
You must complete 66 credit points, comprising:
- 48 credit points from the following list; and
- 18 credit points from specified discipline electives.

You must complete 18 credit points of Marketing units with the prefix MKF or MKX offered at the Caulfield campus, with at least 12 credit points at level 2 or 3.

You must complete the following unit:
MKF3131 Strategic marketing
Part D. Elective studies (48 credit points)
You must complete 48 credit points of elective study. Electives can be chosen from:
Units not already completed in Part B above, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites;
Units offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics or units from across the University, which may be used to complete a major or minor from another course, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions.

Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway to the one year honours program Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (B3701). To be eligible to apply for entry into the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (B3701), you must have achieved a distinction grade average (70%) or above in 24 credit points at Level 3. In addition, some particular Level 3 units may need to be completed for admission to honours.
