Overview

This specialisation will prepare you to teach children (5 – 12 years of age) in primary schools from Foundation to Year 6. You will develop an understanding of how primary school aged children learn and how to employ pedagogical approaches to support the diverse learning needs of children in contemporary classrooms, drawing on research informed practice.  In doing so, you will develop an understanding of how children can be taught effectively and creatively across all primary curriculum areas. This will also enable you to develop knowledge of cross curriculum priorities and the curriculum areas you will teach such as: English and literacies, mathematics and numeracy, arts education, humanities, science, digital technologies, and health and physical education. In the single degree course, you will complete extended studies in two of the following three areas: English/literacy, mathematics/numeracy or science. In the double degree course, you will complete extended studies in either English/literacy or mathematics/numeracy. Completion of this study sequence will enhance your expertise and knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy in these key areas.
