Overview

There has never been a more important or exciting time to study the mediated world.

This course builds your understanding of the changing contexts of media and communication practices. You will gain insight into the key issues affecting the communications and media industries and you will examine these developments from cultural, political and theoretical perspectives. You will be challenged to communicate your new knowledge and insights with impact and purpose, accommodating a range of media formats and potential audiences.

This course develops an advanced understanding of the contemporary communications and media environment. It is suitable for those pursuing careers in a wide range of communications and media roles, including in the areas of communications, media relations, social media, digital engagement, public policy and public relations.

You will have the opportunity to engage with local practitioners and industry experts via guest speakers, case studies, internships and site visits. You will also have the opportunity to conduct in-depth analysis of contemporary media industries, issues and organisations.
